Privacy Policy

What SciFi2Go collects, why, who else sees it, and how to make us delete it.

This policy covers scifi2go.com, run by Rashid Ahmed, a sole trader, of Auris Serenity, Off New Link Road, Malad West, Mumbai 400064, Maharashtra, India (“we”, “us”). It explains what personal data we hold, why we hold it, and what you can make us do about it.

It is written in plain language on purpose. If anything here is unclear, that is a fault in the document, not in you, and we would rather you asked.

The short version

  • We hold one thing about you: your email address. Plus your first and last name if you gave them.
  • We hold it only if you subscribed, and only so we can send you the SciFi2Go Dispatch.
  • We never sell it, rent it, or share it with anyone for their own marketing.
  • You can make us delete it in one click, or by asking.

What we collect

If you subscribe to the Dispatch:

  • Your email address, to send you the emails you asked for.
  • Your first and last name, if you provided them, so emails can address you properly.
  • A record of when you consented and what you consented to, so we can prove the subscription was lawful.
  • Whether you opened or clicked emails, to work out whether the Dispatch is any good.

If you simply browse the site:

  • Standard server logs (IP address, browser, timestamp), for security and to keep the site running.

We do not run analytics on this site. There is no Google Analytics or equivalent tracker, no advertising pixel and no profiling. If that ever changes, this policy changes first, and any such tool would load only after you agreed to it.

What we never collect: payment details. We do not sell anything directly and take no payments on this site.

Why we are allowed to hold it

  • Your consent, for the Dispatch. You can withdraw it at any time.
  • Legitimate interests, for keeping the site secure and preventing abuse. We have weighed these against your rights and consider them proportionate, and you can object.

Who else processes your data

We keep this list deliberately short, because every name on it is a company that can see something of yours.

  • Brevo sends the Dispatch and holds the subscriber list on our behalf. EU.
  • Amazon operates the affiliate programme. Amazon sets its own cookies when you click an Amazon link. US.
  • Automattic (Jetpack) provides site statistics and social sharing. US.
  • Bluehost India hosts the website and the mailboxes. India.

Each is bound by its own contract or terms. None of them is permitted to use your data for their own marketing on our behalf.

Sending data outside your country

We are based in India, our host is in India, and our email platform is in the EU. If you are in the EU or UK, that means your data leaves your region. Where that happens we rely on the safeguards those providers put in place, including standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

  • Subscribers: until you unsubscribe, plus a short suppression record so we can prove you asked us to stop. Without that record we could accidentally email you again.
  • Server logs: a short rolling window, then deleted.

Your rights

Wherever you live, and regardless of which law applies to you, we will honour these:

  • See what we hold about you.
  • Correct it if it is wrong.
  • Delete it. Unsubscribing removes you from the list. Ask us and we will delete the record too.
  • Take it elsewhere in a portable format.
  • Object to how we are using it.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, without giving a reason.

If you are in the EU or UK, these are your rights under the GDPR. If you are in India, they are your rights under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act. We are not going to make you work out which applies before you ask.

Contact us and we will act on it. We aim to respond within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our response and you are in the EU or UK, you have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has subscribed, tell us and we will delete the record.

Security

The subscriber list lives inside Brevo, protected by their security and by our account credentials. Data in transit to and from this site is encrypted. We do not hold your email address in the website database itself.

Cookies

We use cookies. They are described, category by category, in the Cookie Policy.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date below. If the change is significant, we will say so in the Dispatch as well.

The best new sci-fi, and nothing else.

We use Brevo to send these emails. You can unsubscribe at any time with one click, and we will not sell or share your address.
